Mild Reactions- feeling flushed, chest or back pain, nausea. These symptoms are often anxiety driven that manifest as physical symptoms during the infusion. They are often relieved by knowing these are not uncommon symptoms and they go away once the infusion is complete
Severe anaphylactic reactions: low risk approx 0.1% of people
Iron Staining-low risk of the iron leaking out of the vein into surrounding tissue, creating a brown/grey colored stain of the skin.
Lowered blood pressure-mild drop can occur due to dilation of blood vessels
Delayed reaction-Occurs in 10-20% and starts 1-2 days after infusion and includes fatigue, aches and chills, low grade fever
